Has a thin strip of extra rubber along the top edge that would have to be trimmed off to make the chrome lay flat. I opted to just replace with the more expensive Daniel Carpender one offered by NPD instead of trying to modify this one. I have not received the DC one yet so we will have to see how it goes.

It shouldn’t have any effect at all. Just different ways of making the “wipers” that get filled with sealer. Despite what the illustrations show, typically the whole channel between the weatherstrip and the body was filled with sealer. We have been selling this weatherstrip for many years, many thousands sold, and have never had any reported issues with molding fitment prior to this one.
