If your tilt column or hidden headlamps do not function when the motor is turned off, this valve will often be the culprit. This valve was used on many models from the Ford Mustang, to the Lincoln Continental and almost everything in between.
Mr. VacuumMan of Critter Creek Cougar Restorations Ltd, improved the quality of the die cast using Zamac #3 (higher Zinc content) which is two grades higher than what you would find in the originals. The internal disc shaped diaphragm is double the thickness of the OEM silicone version, but is made from Fluorosilicone that will take any amount of engine heat even in continuous use applications. Comes with a lifetime warranty.
To check if your check valve is the culprit of your vacuum leak don’t “blow into it” instead use a hand held vacuum pump on the single port side and pump a few times to ensure the diaphragm is seated, now remove and attach pump to port on 2 port side and plug second port with your finger. Pump hand held pump to 15” Mercury and ensure it hold for 15 seconds if not the check valve is non functioning.
