TRUNK MAT, Composite, Green and Gray, Repro

Reading your review, I suspect that you are expecting the trunk mat to extend all the way to the passenger-side-end of the trunk floor. It is not supposed to, that’s not how Chevrolet did it. Originally, trunk mats only extend over to where the spare tire hold-down bracket is, and goes no further. Auto manufacturers were always looking for ways to cut costs/materials, and they didn’t think it made sense to have a mat laying hidden underneath a tire where it’s serving no purpose. 

So in that respect, your mat is absolutely correct, and any mat that you would order from any other supplier would be trimmed the same way. 

As for fit, once you understand that the mat is not supposed to go all the way to the right side of the trunk, perhaps everything else will fall better into place and make more sense. That said, indeed sometimes a bit of careful trimming can improve final fit. The mat you purchased is the best-available in the industry. The pattern has been tried and true for decades, and is accurate to original.
