This heavy gage steel cross sill made is mounted across the frame under the wood for support. Bolt holes in the cross sill determine the placement of the bed strips and wood. The bed strips and bed sides are bolted to the cross sill and the wood is bolted to the frame through the cross sill by the bed-to-frame bolts. Cross sill is sold with holes and includes brackets. Made in USA.
Note:
Some 55 2nd to 59 Chevy Step side short beds originally had a 3rd position cross sill that was different from the others. The outer end of this sill is formed upward to give clearance under the sill and outward from the frame. Some trucks may need this special sill. NPD is proud to offer this unique cross sill for these applications.
