Cross Sill, Stainless Steel, includes brackets, Bolts holes punched for bed strips, US-made reproduction
This 14-gage stainless steel cross sill is mounted across the frame under the wood for support. Bolt holes in the cross sill determine the placement of the bed strips and wood. The bed strips and bed sides are bolted to the cross sill and the wood is bolted to the frame through the cross sill by the bed-to-frame bolts. Cross sill is sold with holes and includes brackets. Part is covered with plastic film to protect the stainless surface. This will need to be removed before installation. Part is approximately 2-1/8 inches tall. Made in USA.
Note:
This stainless steel cross sill is designed to be used in all three positions for short bed (see additional note) and long bed with 89 inch bed length. Long beds with 97 inch bed length will use 4 of these cross sills.
Application Note:
Some 55 2nd to 59 Chevy Step side short beds originally had a 3rd position cross sill that was different from the others. The outer end of this sill is formed upward to give clearance under the sill and outward from the frame. Some trucks may need this special sill. So if your third position cross sill is not like the front two other positions you might need this modified version. NPD offers this unique 3rd cross sill under part number K-17405-55FUB but is only available in standard steel not stainless.
