If you're looking to replace your original hood insulation retainers and are seeking a close to original style retainers offered, this kit from NPD is an excellent option. This kit includes 15 reproduction style black plastic retainers designed to replace the small units that were used on the early 1979 thru 1981 Foxbody Mustangs. These units also feature the correct 1 1/8 inch round head as well as the correct push in claw type design that was used on the early models. So, if your original units are broken, missing or have simply seen better days, consider picking up one of these kits from NPD today!
Restoration Note:
The original Ford units (386553-S), used on 1979-1981 model years, featured several distinctive characteristics. A notable feature was the presence of small mold lines running across the top surface, mid-way through the unit as well as a matte finish. Furthermore, these early models boasted a push-in claw type design that was unique to their era. These reproduction units feature everything except for the mold line on the top side making them a close to original as possible.
The Ford listings for the change over years are not clear as to when they went to the larger-style units. The years listed are the best information available based on research done by NPD.

These are too small in diameter for my 82 GT. Use the 83 plus larger disc size for a near match on material and style for that car. Although those are still not exact in attachment or manufacture, they are pretty close to originals.
