This reproduction style trunk release button or luggage compartment switch is designed to be a direct replacement for your original unit. This unit features the correct TRUNK RELEASE text as well as a black center push button. Fords original part number for this part was D3AY-19C542-A and was replaced by F6AZ-19C542-AA unit. These reproduction units are based off the F6AZ-AA unit. So if you are looking for the correct units for your Foxbody or SN95 Mustang this reproduction unit will get you back in working order.
Restoration Note:
1979 Foxbody Mustangs featured a correct black center push button but after 1979 sometime in 1980 Ford changed the designed of the part to feature a brighter Yellow style center push button that went on to be the correct version all the way until 2004. The original Ford part number D3AY-19C542-A never changed but production installed units did not feature the black center button. This reproduction units is a replacement due to the black center push button for all 1980 thru 2004 Mustangs. NPD offers the black center push button in both Ford (M-19C542-3) and Reproduction (M-19C542-3B).
