Allows removal of the cable from the brake backing plate by compressing the spring retainer, Tool has .46” and .54” diameter holes for compressing the spring retainer. May not fit all parking brake cable springs, measure yours to verify. Early Mustangs require a .575” hole size (19/32” drill works best) so you may need to enlarge the hole to utilize properly.

A simple tool to compress the parking brake cable retainer clip from the backing plate. Very easy to use and makes an annoying task very easy. You could probably fabricate this tool, but why bother?

This tool is a great idea but doesn’t fit the stock Mustang parking brake. You have to get a large heavy duty drill bit or grind it out to the right size. I. The end I just used vise grips to work the brake out.
