Restoration Note:
This kit is designed to fit 1981 through 1993 Mustangs that used metric-style hardware. The original Ford information is not 100% clear on the transition to metric-style hardware. NPD research shows that in 1981, Ford changed the part number for the complete hatch, which leads us to believe that the hardware and mounting style changed. Additionally, the 1982 Mustang in the NPD collection features metric-style hardware. If you are looking for the correct standard-style kit, NPD offers it under part number M-43200-2AK.
Installation Note:
This kit includes (4) appropriate style metric bolts that are designed to bolt directly to the rear hatch. Starting in 1981, Ford installed threaded inserts in the hatch, eliminating the need for U-nuts for proper installation. This upgraded style of mounting helps to eliminate misalignment and improper installation of the rear latch.
