Is you original gas cap seen better days? Are you tired of having to figure out a place to put your broken gas cap because of a missing or broken strap? Well NPD has you covered with this exact reproduction gas cap strap. This strap is designed to be an exact copy of the original unit and is molded in the correct black plastic as well as having the same injection molding ports on the backside. This unit is designed to work with all factory style gas caps that were offered from 1982 thru 1990. So, if you are tired of setting your gas cap on the roof of your Foxbody or if you are looking to take your restoration to the next level, then look at picking up one of these units from NPD today!
Restoration Note:
Since the original Ford books do not state what color strap was properly used NPD has offered these straps in both Black and gray finishes to have both options covered. NPD research has has shown that most early Foxbody Mustangs before 1987 featured the gray strap. After 1986 Ford / Motorcraft went to black strap. Please note that your original gas cap could have been swapped or changed over the year. See NPD part number M-9S030-3G for correct gray style strap.
Installation Note:
NPD has gone to great length to ensure that these straps fit as best as possible. Some light sanding on the inner circle may be required to ensure that the cap can spin freely in the strap. Ford / Motorcraft had varying tolerances on the cap size. If sanding is required this should be very minimal and be covered by the cap flange. Also note that the injection molding ports should be installed facing down from the top of the cap. This was how the factory installed them. Some light pressure or color change may happen on the first few times it is bent.

Works great. If yours is missing, get it back to factory so you don’t drive off without your gas cap.

Seems to be a good product, only time will really tell. Took a little work to get it on to the gas cap, but it went on without any trimming. Great to have the gas cap secure and out of the way while filling, without it hanging and hitting the body. A bit overpriced and could have been shipped in a regular envelope with a couple stamps for a lot cheaper.
