Description

MONTE CARLO BAR, curved, black painted, good repro, Originally curved to clear the Shelby oval air cleaner the curved version also provides convenient clearance to the distributor cap simplifying maintenance chores, The Monte Carlo bar was originally added to the Monte Carlo raced Falcons and later the 1964 Monte Carlo Mustangs to further reinforce the shock towers by triangulating the support in conjunction with the one piece export brace, The bar keeps the shock towers from collapsing inward and keeps camber adjustments more consistent, When you install this bar you may notice that the bar will not fit in between the aprons, This is due to the shock tower and aprons flexing inward, It may be necessary to spread the shock towers outward to fit the brace and return the towers to their original designed position, Make sure to check your front end alignment after installation, Each side bracket has 4 mounting holes, 3 of which are existing holes, 40 1/2 inch between brackets, .080 inch plate thickness including coating, 1inch O.D. tube with 1.2mm tubing wall thickness, 2.0 lb actual weight, See 29432-1AK for mounting hardware option,

Bought this in anticipation of dropping it right in. Turns out it was 1/2 inch too long. Having the means I cut it down and welded it to fit. Other’s would just send it back.

Shock tower "sag" is common with 65-66 Mustangs, and installing any Monte Carlo bar, in order to return your car to its original geometry, requires a method of spreading the towers to install the bar. This is required with every install, and many videos exist on YouTube to walk you through it.

I had installed a straight Monte Carlo bar a few years ago and it was sturdy and well made. However, removing the distributor was to much hassle with it so I decided to replace it with the straight bar. The new curved bar is really flimsy and in fact one of the connectors was bent. NPD was good about sending a replacement but it is such a piece of junk I'm not sure it is worth installing.
