Features a draw string neck to conform to stock and aftermarket shifters and a rubber insulated metal mounting plate that mounts with stock bolts.
Note that these are designed to be installed below the carpet like the originals were and the 7262 trim plate installed to trim off the opening. Either style trim plate can be used but we believe the early style pedestal trim plates 7262-1 or 7262-1B work best.
See 7138-1K, 7138-2K, 7138-3K, 7138-4K for mounting hardware options.

I bought this tall & flexible boot for hopes of less resistance when shifting. It works great for that compared to the rubber boot I had before. And the design with the velcro and string tie made it very convenient to install!

We do not see anything on this boot that would say this is a
poor quality part. Actually we think it is very well done in how they
adapted a sewn leather boot to the Mustang pattern. Well thought out and
executed. Very sturdy too.
The only thing I can think of is that maybe you were trying to
mount this on top of the carpet when it should be installed below the carpet
like the original was and use the 7262 trim plates (either style) to finish off
the carpet hole. I think I would prefer to use the 7262-1 or 1B early
style trim plates to finish it off if I were to use one but that’s just me.

This replaces a similar unit I bought years ago. The one I have looks great and works perfectly but has been damaged by my removal and installation of a small home-built pod beneath my air conditioner. I am looking forward to many more years of service from this replacement unit.
