LATCH ASSY, Hood, repro, early 67 style with short catch guides, These were replaced with the longer 68 style and there is evidence that some very late production cars in July or August received the longer style, We STRONGLY recommend that the latch be lubed at the contact points and pivots prior to installation, White Lithium works well as will other similar lubricants, WD-40 is not a true lubricant! See 16700-1BSK, 16700-1AK for mounting hardware options, We have a December 67 scheduled build date Metuchen car (133xxx) with the longer style hood latch so the use may be a lot earlier that originally thought.

horrible part, very stiff and hard to move, if that was the only problem no big deal, the hole mechanism is just off. tried modifying for hours, there is just not enough movement when on the car and adjusted properly for it to unlatch!! bent the lever, added material so it would push more!! no luck!!! not worth the money!!

After seeing
your review, we test-installed a 16700-5A latch here on one of the 1967
Mustangs in our collection, and here’s what we found.
The latch
is not adequately pre-lubed from the factory. Upon discovering this, we simply lubed-up
all of the critical points and pivots, and installed it to the car without
issue. It adjusted perfectly, hood opens/closes/unlatches perfectly.
I fear
that the root of most of your frustration, was a latch that needed some
lubricant prior to installing. Hopefully you can straighten your lever, lubricate
it, and have a better experience with it.
As a
result of your review, we are going to add a recommendation to lubricate prior
to installation in our product-description.
