Very nice finish, tapped thread for lock mechanism is not tapped deep enough. When door locked, it sticks up more than GM original part does, could be easier to break into car??

These look great. The originals on my 70 Chevelle were plastic. Definitely like these metal ones better!

These door knobs are well worth the extra money! They seem to fit just as good as the plastic originals and definitely feel more robust.

While very solid and well finished, the internal threading is not complete thus the knobs do not thread more than about an inch down the lock shaft, leaving the appearance of an unlocked car when the door is locked. I plan to retap them properly since it's not worth my time and money to return them.

Just as an FYI, originally the door lock knobs never got all that close to being down flush with the ferrule. Even in locked position, the very top of the knob will be sticking-up at least ¾” – 1” inch from the door panel. That was intended, so that a person could get a firm grip on the underside of the knob with their fingers to un-lock.
We literally
have dozens of ultra-low-mile original un-restored GM’s here in our private
collection, and it’s pretty consistent.

Inside door locks in metal are way better than the plastic replacements as they don't peel.

One of my door lock pulls stripped for my '68 Camaro (the original was plastic). I ordered the metal replacement from NPD. It arrived quickly and worked well. It also looks just like the original so I'm very happy. The only negative is that the threads are a little shallow so it doesn't thread on quite as far as the original, but that doesn't matter much to me.
