These are really meant to house 5.25 inch speakers, not 6.5. The max diameter of the cone mounting surface is six inches only, when you add the grill it will overhang and look like a mushroom. I put 5.25's in mine and came out smooth with the grill in place, no overhang.

Unfortunately mine came with the speaker hole cut out already, not a full piece of plastic as pictured. The other reviewer is correct in stating only 5.25 inch speakers will fit into this mount. The finish is a cheap looking glossy black but the plastic took paint easily to give an excellent final appearance. The depth of speaker is important, mine was 2 inches and just barely fit. Some minor trimming was required and the kick panel was easily cut. Overall I am happy with this item but it was not exactly as described on the website.
