Mine was very hard. If I took a rear hit it sure wouldn't have had any flex, it likely would have ripped. Ya gotta think about these things...New hose is very flexible and good looking as well. Don't cheap out, get the new clamps and gasket for the filler tube. Doing a re-new on an older restoration and safety is a big part of it. DO IT!
