Exact repro. Each. 2 required. Correct flat oval wire spring with proper tension unique to Ram Air hoods. Finished in correct zinc phosphate and oil. 7 OAL. US-made.
This is a very unique spring that uses a flat oval wire that is not in common use and the material cost is 4x normal wire of a similar size. Costly special tooling was required to correctly wind the wire to have the flats lay consistently across the outside and inside diameters. This made for an expensive spring to produce. Produced using ASTM A401 CrSi carbon alloy commonly used for engine valve springs and suspension coil springs. The spring tension was fine tuned and tested for 5 days on a ram air equipped car without any relaxation in both the full up position and the lowest open position to assure the desired outcome.
Note that while the springs are zinc phosphate coated, the steel material did not take the coating as is typically seen of zinc phosphate. The springs have a slightly red tint to the darked steel.

THESE SPRINGS LOOK FANTASTIC, HOWEVER I WILL NOT HAVE A CHANCE TO INSTALL FOR A FEW MONTHS. AS I LIVE IN MICHIGAN THERE IS NO REASON TO RUSH CAUSE ALL THE CARS ARE SLEEPING NOW....

Great product with equal rating - Glad they are now in production. Well worth the cost against non ram air hood springs. Less than 2 weeks from ordering to receipt in NZ

These work perfectly. I have a 1973 Mach 1 and the previous owner installed a ram air hood but didn’t upgrade the springs, so we’ve been propping the hood up since we got it. The springs have put an end to that.

They are expensive and should be sold as a pair. They are the correct OEM looking springs for the NASA hood.
