The locating pin for attaching this item is NOT like the original. This makes attaching your reproduction more difficult than it should be. The grain structure is very close to the original. My guess is that the one you copied had the locating pin broken off and no one realized it was missing.

This is a good reproduction of the original except that they left off the boss that fits into the hole of the hinge.This boss expands when the screw goes in it thus holding it to the hinge. I welded the hole shut in the hinge and drilled and tapped it for a 6-32 screw in which the head fits perfectly in the new cover. Be sure to grind the screw flush on the inside of the hinge so it will not scratch the bottom seat cover when operated.
