not what I was looking for, poor quality and I'll check my local parts store to see if I can find the right stuff. I can take them a sample where buying from a catalog you can't compare the look etc.

What you purchased (18472-01A) was the cheapest and most-generic option we offer, so I am a bit confused as to what your expectations may have been, and don’t know that a local parts chain will have anything of better quality.
For
future reference, the concours-correct and best-quality heater hose kit for
your 1970 coupe would be NPD # 18472-4B or 18472-5B, depending upon your car’s
build-date. This is original-style grooved hose with correct Autolite markings,
part #’s and date codes..
