Exact replacement for our '68 Cougar DGS. I have read to replace this gasket with two gaskets; this provides a little more space between the gas cap and tail light panel, and this will keep the gas cap from scratching the paint.

'68 Mercury Cougar DGS. I read somewhere to double stack these cork gaskets so that after you fill up and put your gas cap back on, there is less chance for you to scrape the paint around your gas tank pipe. It gives the gas cap the clearance to avoid damaging your car's paint. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Standard cork gasket; holes nicely punched. Definitely worth it.
