Repro. Premium Late style brace has the firewall mounting holes in two groups. Groups measure 1 29/32 and 4 7/8 between groups. This reproduction has the reinforcing contours as deep and crisp as the original Ford brace with thicker steel than the other imported versions. The one piece export brace replaces the original two piece braces and exponentially increases the rigidity between the shock towers and cowl area.
Originally designed for export cars where the roads tended to be more rough than US roads and the extra stiffness helped to keep shock tower flex to a minimum. The brace keeps the shock towers from collapsing inward and keeps camber adjustments more consistent. When you install this bar you may notice that the shock tower bolt holes do not line up. This is due to the shock tower flexing inward. We suggest you install the cowl bolts loose and then fit the shock tower bolts. It may be necessary to spread the shock towers outward to fit the brace and return the towers to their original designed position. Make sure to check your front end alignment after installation.

This is a well built, and sturdy export brace. It fit well on my 65 fastback. It was a little more expensive than I was expecting, but in this case, money buys quality.

The holes in the brace at the cowl area were just a little off, less than a 16th of an inch. A small tweak with a die grinder took care of it and the brace dropped right on the cowl and shock towers. Nice and heavy too.

Very accurate copy of the original and much thicker steel that the original separate braces. My 68 Cougar handles corners much better now and I'm glad I installed it. Installation was pretty simple, however I had to spread my shock towers out with a porta power to get it to fit. This is not due to the brace, but due to front end damage and flexing over time one shock tower moved out of place. Shipping time was fast and shipping cost was very reasonable.

Read the forums about the benefits of adding an export brace and they were right. Surprised in the level of improvement in the suspension/handling by just adding this brace. Well made and much thicker than stock. Fit fine after I left it jacked up overnight.

This export brace is quite thick and seems to be very sturdy. It is very rigid and should help to tighten up the front end. It was tough to install into our Cougar and required a jack and a port a power to fit, but that is not due to an issue with the part. The issue is with sagging 53 year old shock towers. The part itself seems very well made.

although ive not installed this bracket yet as its the deepfreeze up here right now it looks great,way more substantial than the two-piece setup on car now, much heavier stamping and given its a one-piece it will be a big structural improvement as each side now can flex independently of the other, so for the money id say this is a great value in improving the rigidity of car, my cougar also is a convertible so way more flexxy than a coupe. npd had fast shipping too, my only complaint is with the brokerage charges which are in no way a reflection on the product itself
