Chrome. Pair. Non-original custom option. Best version made by NPD due to issues with the other option being too brittle. This version uses a softer plastic that is more pliable and less susceptible to breaking.
Vacuum Metalizing and Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) are the most accurate terms that produce bright chrome finish on the substrate or part. The coating method involves purely physical processes such as high temperature vacuum evaporation. The first surface vacuum metalizing process usually consists of 3 layers of material:
Base Coat: Provides a fresh glossy surface for the evaporated metal to adhere to.
Evaporation in a vacuum of high purity grade aluminum metal that condenses on the part and produces uniform bright chrome like surface.
Top Coat: Provides protection for the base coat and metalized layer.
The Base and Top Coats are very important as they provide adhesion and protection from scratching, marring, oxidation of the aluminum and degradation from ultra violet light.
Both base and top coats are automotive quality coatings.
Vacuum Metalizing provides a highly reflective chrome like surface.

Appearance upon removal from package is gorgeous, however when attempting to install these things, they flex and the chrome plating (or whatever it is) disintegrates and comes off. the plastic rings are thin and flex. I broke one trying to push it in to get the tiny plastic shims on the bottom to slip into the door holes - or, snap-in-place. The second one was even more difficult. And the openings on my 66 mustang's doors are near pristine. These would be much better if they were made out of metal or had a better design for installing.

Began flaking immediately. I understand they are inexpensive, but from my experience, there's no way to install them without then flaking the fake chrome paint off badly. Poor quality...frustrated.

Second replacement. First set broke while installing. Second set, which was to be of better quality, all the look alike chrome flaked off. But I'll live with it.
