This relay to starter cable assembly is designed to be an exact reproduction of the original unit. It is based off the Original Ford part number D1PZ-14431-J. It includes the protective sleeve and features zinc plated brackets with a vinyl coated end just like the original units. The main job of the starter cable is to direct power from the battery to the starter to get your engine running. These cables can become brittle and corroded over time and can lead to harder starts or a no start condition. This cable will not only help with keep your Fox Mustang running properly but also help you in keeping the OE style restoration going.
Fitment Note: This cable is designed to be a exact replacement for the 1979-85 5.0L Fox Mustangs that featured the larger style starter and that utilized the fender mounted starter relay solenoid to supply proper power.

If you're replacing the battery positive and ground cables as I did, you might as well get this also. It's not cheap at $41 but I figured replacing with the other cables will give me another 40 years at least on it and I won't get stranded with a car that won't start because the old one gave up. Note, however, Daniel Carpenter, that this is NOT an exact reproduction. It's very close, but the original cable's heat shield is cloth, not corrugated plastic. I know there is a fine distinction between exact and concourse quality so you could claim my standards are concourse; if the item description read exact except for plastic shield instead of cloth shield or exact repro using modern materials, then 5 stars instead of 4. But seriously do buy this if you're restoring your car and you don't want to get stranded later.
