This mounting kit is designed to mounting your 1979-1986 factory style battery tray in its proper location. This kit includes 2 battery tray to inner fender bolts, 2 frame rail J nuts and 2 battery tray to frame rail bolts. So if you are looking for the proper kit to mount your battery tray NPD has you covered with this correct style kit.
Installation Note:
1986 Mustang customer will only need to use one of the frame rail J nuts and one of the bolts. When Ford changed locations of the battery tray in 1986 they only used one of the bolts to mount to the frame rail section. This kit is designed to work on all 1979-86 model years.

I have the 82 fiberglass tray with the metal clamp style hold down. These are not even close to the fasteners that came on that car. They can work. But these tray fasteners are way longer, and the ones with the clips are unrecognizable. Also the fender bolt style clips are very narrow, You can use in the frame rail under the tray but you would need to reform with heat to make fit the fatter fiberglass tray itself. You can do better on your own.
